Why Scooping Cat Litter is More Than just Cleaning Up

Cat litter scooping regularly is more important than you might think.

As you know, your cat is a marvel of consistency. Every day she'll sleep in the same place, eats the same amount of food and drinks the same amount of water. This love of routine can make it easy to spot early signs about your cat’s health. Those telltale signs are often waiting right in your cat’s litter box.

We Scoop for Many Reasons

Nana's Pet Sitting offers regular litter box cleaning as part of our service but cat litter scooping is more than just changing the litter. I'm trained to monitor the scoops I make each visit. Among the things I look for are color (signs of blood in the urine or stool), odor (anything unusual), size of the urine clump (urinary tract concerns) and parasites in the stool.

Not every clues reside inside the litter box. If there are not the expected number of urine clumps, I can alert you to this change of behavior. If she's peeing outside the box, it can be an expression of misdirected aggression. Somehow her environment is not to her liking and thankfully, you can take steps to correct the situation.

An abnormal litter box does not automatically mean trouble but regular monitoring is a sure way help prevent trouble and keeping your cat happy.

Cat Litter Scooping Made Easy

If you’re like me, finding new gadgets to help us care for our pets is a super fun pastime! Have you seen a “Litter-Robot “? It may be a little pricey for some of us. However, there are some equally impressive and less-expensive versions available. How about a self cleansing litter box where you just turn the handle? If you do a search, you could spend all day pouring over the different options. Of course, don't forget the ever-popular manual cat litter scooper which comes in all colors and sizes.

Until next time friends....
